The National Archaeological Museum is a public archaeological museum located in the Plaza de Colón square in Madrid, the capital of Spain.
The museum was robbed during the Spanish Civil War, and many gold coins and historical artifacts were studied, especially the famous Quimbaya Treasure[2]. Some of the stolen works during this period were found in the USA and Mexico much later, and were returned to Spain in return. With the decree issued on April 19, 1941, the artifacts belonging to the Americas in the museum collection were given to the newly created Museum of America.
