The fossils exhibited in the Muğla Museum belong to creatures that lived 5-9 million years ago. These are creatures that lived and disappeared in a wide area stretching from East Asia to Spain. This period is called the Turolian, since fossils of living things from this period were found for the first time in the Tervel Basin of Spain. Fossils belonging to giraffes, hornbills, rhinoceros, proboscis, porcine, equine and carnivores, and many plant fossils were found in the excavations. Some of them are exhibited in the natural history section of the museum. Another section open to visitors in Muğla Museum is the ethnography section. Clothing and daily use items from various regions of Muğla are exhibited in this section.
