The War of Independence Museum or the I. Parliament Building, the building where the activities of the Turkish Grand National Assembly were carried out between 1920-1924. The construction of the 1st Turkish Grand National Assembly building, located in Ulus Square in Altındağ district of Ankara, started in 1915. The plan of the building, which was originally designed as the clubhouse of the Committee of Union and Progress, was made by the foundation architect Salim Bey, and the construction was supervised by the military architect of the corps, Hasip Bey. The most distinctive feature of the two-storey building, which is in Turkish architectural style, is the use of Ankara stone on its walls. When it was decided to convene in this building on April 23, 1920, the building, which was not yet completed, was completed with the contribution of the nation as a work of national excitement. The building, which was used as the First Grand National Assembly of Turkey between April 23, 1920 and October 15, 1924, later continued to function as the Cumhuriyet Halk Fırkası Headquarters and Law School, was transferred to the Ministry of Education in 1952, and in 1957, work began to be converted into a museum. The building was opened to the public on April 23, 1961 under the name of "Turkish Grand National Assembly Museum".
