Kirazdere Dam is a dam built on the Kirazdere Stream in Kocaeli between 1987-1999 to produce drinking water.
The body volume of the dam, which is a rock body fill type, is 5.200.000 m³, its height from the stream bed is 109,00 m., the lake volume at normal water level is 60.00 hm³, and the lake area at normal water level is 1.74 km². The dam provides 142 hm³ of drinking water annually.
It meets 80% of the water need of Kocaeli province. The dam, which dried up in the summer of 2006, was sufficient for the entire population of Kocaeli in the summer of 2007 as a result of the work done. Thanks to the measures taken in 2007 when many cities in Turkey suffered from thirst, the Kirazdere (formerly Yuvacık) Dam met all of Kocaeli's water needs.
Since this dam is in Yuvacık town, this dam was previously called "Yuvacık Dam". Since this dam is not a hydroelectric power plant, it only supplies drinking water to the city. There are trout facilities, picnic areas, etc. far from the dam lake. There are recreation areas.
