Bodrum Antique Theater, or simply Antique Theater, is a theater building in Classical Antiquity, built in the 4th century BC, when Satrap Mausolos reigned, and located in Bodrum, Turkey.
Located in the north of Bodrum city center, the theater is among the oldest theaters in Anatolia. The most recent restoration of the theater, which was restored by a group of Turks in the 1970s, was carried out in collaboration with Bodrum Municipality, Ericsson and Turkcell. Today, the building hosts many cultural events held in Bodrum.
Among the interesting features of the theater are the altar where the sacrifices were sacrificed for Dionysus before the plays and the holes between some of the seats that may have been used as a canopy. In the cavea section, a distance of 40 centimeters is left between each seat, and the theater has a capacity of 13.000 people and has 55 rows in total, 30 at the bottom and 25 at the top. The rows of seats in the theater are divided vertically into 12 sections with 11 stairs.
